Folks,
Some of you may have received an email that showed a number of features that made it look like it came from this list and purporting to be from Al Buchan, whom, as most of you know, is sadly no longer with us.
I appreciate this being brought to my attention, but upon investigation, it is clear that the emails did not actually come from the list. Thus, this list has not been "hacked", nor has some former account of Al's been taken over. Rather, this is a case of "spoofing" where someone has obtained a list of emails that Al corresponded with and has used both Al's address and the list address to "spoof" you. This is extremely difficult for us to combat as the messages actually have nothing to do with this list.
Obviously, unless you have a separate email that you don't care if it gets sp a mm ed, DO NOT REPLY to the spoof emails.
Regards,
Bruce
